The Jane Austin Book Club

The film we watched in class was more of a chick flick I feel like. I didn't really like the film that much because to be honest it was kind of boring in my opinion. I thought there was a lot more weaknesses in the film then strengths. This was more of a romance film which I don't mind its just this one wasn't that good. I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch this film.

Out of Comfort Zone Book

The Art of Racing in the Rain by: Garth Stein

I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I thought it was going to be completely different. I was not expecting the authors style of writing to be like that. Garth Stein made the protagonist and narrator from a dogs point of view. So as the reader reads the novel, the story is being explained from a golden retrievers perspective. I never read a book like this before so that's how you know this book was defiantly out of my confront zone. All in all, I really liked this book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes an easy read.

Reflection on Author Presentation

I thought the presentation was really good. I thought Christina Baker Kline explain her book very well in all aspects. I think the thing I found most interesting is when she said she had to research so much information before writing this book. I remember her talking about how she actually flew out to Ireland to get a feel of what it was like to be in Ireland before writing the novel. She had to make sure that all of her facts were accurate and on point. This book is bases on true events that actually happened in the past. Little boys and girls who were orphans use to go on these orphan trains and sometimes were never seen again. It was more interesting having the author explain it then reading the book. I liked the presentation a lot and I am very grateful that I got to experience that.

Orphan Train By: Christina Baker Kline

Reaction:

Orphan Train was very fact base explaining what the orphan trains were and how they were organized to work. This book had its ups and downs I feel like from my point of view. This type of book is not something I would usually read on my own time. The authors style of writing was very good and had many different literary symbols throughout the book. I would most defiantly read another book from this author without a doubt. Its not that I don't like the author, It's just I didn't like the style of the book.

Genre-Thriller

Image result for gone girl bookImage result for shutter island book     My favorite Genre would be Suspense/Thriller because it usually keeps the reader at the edge of their seats. This is an important aspect when reading books because if the book is boring than the reading won't enjoy the novel. A couple of my favorite books with this type of genre would be Gone Girl and Shutter Island. The authors of both these books really gives the reader what they are looking for in a thriller novel.
